Grand Junction—MarillacHealth, the Community Health Center that serves Mesa & Montrose Counties, is holding a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 9am at the new health center site. Marillac will be building a new health center north of the Mesa
County Workforce Center, 512 29.5 Road. Marillac purchased the 4.5-acre parcel from Mesa County in January 2024 and is set to begin construction this summer. The new clinic will open in late summer 2025. The 27,000 square foot building will offer integrated medical, dental, and behavioral health services, along with a drive-through pharmacy. In addition, Marillac has partnered with CMU Tech to include an office, classroom space, and clinical training resources for their new clinic-based Dental Hygienists training program. The new care site will create new jobs and most importantly, increased access to healthcare for 2000-3000 more people.
“This is a perfect location to place a health center that can be on a campus-like setting with employment and training services, public health, WIC and other social services” explains Kay Ramachandran, Marillac’s Chief Executive Officer. Building design and construction is a collaborative effort with local firms, Chamberlin Architects, and general contractor, FCI Constructors. The building cost will come in around $21 million. Our Capital Campaign Fundraising is underway – “New Doors to Health.” To date we have secured nearly $13 million. Senators John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet both supported our application for a $2.5 million grant through Congressionally Directed Spending Fund. In addition, New Market Tax Credits and many foundations, individuals and other community support have been secured. Fundraising among partners, individuals, foundations, and businesses continues to raise the remaining $8 million.
