Your Vote Matters

Marillac joins other nonprofits and community health centers across the country in engaging our patients, staff, and community in elections. We do this because communities with higher rates of civic participation are more likely to have residents who volunteer, experience lower unemployment, and have better health outcomes. Voter registration and participation allows voters throughout the state to have a say on candidates, ballot initiatives and policy decisions that affect them directly.
As a registered voter in Colorado you have three ways you may vote: either by mail, in person, or via a ballot dropbox. You can choose. Once you are a registered voter, you will receive a ballot in the mail prior to each election. It must be completed and mailed back, dropped off at a ballot dropbox, or hand-delivered to your County Clerk’s Office by a certain date. You also have the option of voting in person, at pre-established locations within the County. In-person voting locations typicallyopen two weeks prior to the elction for early voting. Visit the Mesa County Clerk’s Election webpage for polling locations, important dates, and more.

Important Dates for the next election will be posted here.

What’s on your ballot?

It’s important to know what is on your ballot, and to learn as much as you can about the candidates and issues before you vote.

Nonpartisanship

The federal tax code contains a single sentence that defines the prohibition of partisan political activities by 501(c)(3) charitable organizations. It states 501(c)(3) organizations are “prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in – or intervening in – any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for elective public office.”
